Putting People First
A life-long resident of Cal City, Gerry Tarka has served our community for over 30 years – coaching youth sports, serving on the St Andrew School Board and, was a member of the Lincoln Elementary School PTA. Gerry is a life-long member of American Legion Post #330 and is past Executive Director of the Illinois Myasthenia Gravis Foundation – a non-profit healthcare organization.
Doing the Job Right
Gerry Tarka knows what it takes to manage a multi million dollar public budget with accountability. He managed a local CPA firm and was employed by both the Cook County Treasurer’s Office and South Suburban College in the Business & Accounting department. Gerry served as Chairman of the City Council Finance Committee for 8 years, where he demonstrated how central “fiscal responsibility” is to his approach to public finance and he’s proud to have collab orated with Mayor Thaddeus Jones in prioritizing spending; raising Cal City’s credit rating; freezing the property tax rate and simply doing more with less – just like working families have.
